BACKGROUND
HIV/AIDS is a serious Public Health problem in the country. Challenge to CMAI and its network to respond to the magnitude of the epidemic and actively participate in the control of HOV infection, to develop good models of care and to mitigate the social damage caused. Program begun in 1992 to build capacity of network to address the issue in a scientific and systematic manner.

OBJECTIVES
- To improve the level of available services in prevention, care and support in CMAI network
- To enhance the involvement of the church in addressing stigma discrimination, prevention, care and support
ACTIVITIES
- Improve availability of quality counseling
- Increase adherence to precautions taken in institutions to eliminate the transmission of infections
- Enhance involvement of the church in addressing stigma discrimination, prevention, care and support.
- Program to prevent Mother to child transmission
- Workshops to increase knowledge and skills
RESULTS
- Institutions implementing Universal precautions
- Curches initiating community Based Care for people with AIDS
- Introduction of volunteer counseling and Testing centers
- Networking with government and Non government organisations

- A workshop on Quality Improvement of Care & Support Systems related to Antiretroviral Therapy on 12/October,2005 in Bangalore. This workshop is part of the pre-conference programme
