Given the fact that very few health institutions have involved in caring for the terminally ill, CMAI has given significant priority to Palliative Care. Special efforts are taken to sensitize more and more institutions to initiate the work and to get more people trained in palliative care.
CMAI in collaboration with Institute of Palliative Medicine, Calicut is conducting a one-year distance learning ‘National Fellowship in Palliative Medicine’ for MBBS and BDS.
The CMAI - IPM National Fellowship Programme aims
- To give training to doctors so that they receive the knowledge and professional skills to render palliative care services.
- To give new insights and perspectives and positively influence their outlook towards the practice of Medicine i.e. from being medicine & doctor centric to person centric and being an equal partner in a team.
This National Fellowship Programme will help to build capacity of healthcare professionals and institutions and equip them to render much-needed palliative care services to the people of this country.
The NFPM course now has APL (Accreditation for Prior Learning) by Cardiff University.
Those who have done the NFPM can join the Cardiff 3 year MSc in Palliative Medicine programme at the Diploma level (2nd year) and they will have to do an audit project in addition.
