Interesting Historical  fact – Started as a leprosy clinic in 1936

This mission hospital is situated in Utraula, a city in the Balrampur district of UP. This hospital, with a capacity of 35 beds, has been on quite the ride since Covid came to town. At first, it did not have permission to conduct tests or admit patients. They were told to send Covid patients to the government hospital, and they were only able to save 2-3 patients. So, patients were only treated for fevers. As a result, they were not even able to get oxygen cylinders.

The government made it a Covid designated hospital after the peak had gone by in May. A 15 bed ICU was set up for Covid patients, with 20 jumbo cylinders and a centralised oxygen line solely for Covid patients. There are not many patients coming due to lockdown, and prices of equipment and consumables have increased drastically. But even though the staff has not been paid for 3 months, they have not given up. They are still doing home visits for patients who need palliative care because they are in the terminal stages of cancer, with the team providing them with medicines, and helping to create awareness within the community.
